A 4-year-old Texas boy born with no arms and legs walked for the first time shortly before Thanksgiving. Now, a video shot by his mother is going viral.
Kate Whiddon told her young son, Camden, “I’m so proud of you buddy” as he managed to “walk” to his father, Fox News reported on Monday.
Camden’s father, Cole Greene, joined in the excitement, telling his son, “You’re sitting up all by yourself. You’re not falling.”
“I’m walking,” Camden said.
Whiddon, the 23-year-old mother, reportedly learned her son would be born with no arms and legs when she was 18 weeks pregnant. After his birth, doctors diagnosed the newborn with amelia-phocomelia.
“When he was around 2 months old, I had him laying on my bed … I saw him out the corner of my eye and he was hitting the toys with his arms. I started to cry, I was just so happy and that confirmed that he was gonna be able to do things,” she told People Magazine in an interview.
This is not Camden’s first emotional video. Earlier this year, Whiddon posted a video of her then 3-year-old son helping take care of his little brother.
Fox News reported both the parents express their pride and emotion at their son’s remarkable achievement.
Camden’s reaction to the video was much like any other 4-year-old child. “I wanna see, Mama!”
