MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas — Authorities are keeping total secrecy around the kidnapping of six men between the ages of 17 and 25 who were traveling on a passenger bus from the Transpais line en route to this border city.
The kidnapping took place on August 21, however authorities in Tamaulipas have not released any information connected to the case. According to passengers, the bus left the area known as La Huasteca Potosina in San Luis Potosí. A group of cartel gunmen stopped the bus along the main avenue in Ciudad Mante, Tamaulipas.
The gunmen boarded the vehicle and robbed the passengers. Soon after, they kidnapped six young men who were also passengers. The gunmen yelled “Hey you get down, you too you also look good,” the passengers claim the gunmen yelled during the kidnapping.
In regards to the case, San Luis Potosi State Police claimed that since the kidnapping occurred in another jurisdiction, they would be requesting the help of authorities in that state.
The spokesman for the San Luis Potosí Attorney General’s Office, Ivan Ojeda, stated they could not provide information in connection with the case because it could further endanger the victims.
Tamaulipas was singled out as having been one of the highest levels of violence–where in the last months the state highways have become the scenes of cartel shootouts, robberies, kidnappings and other activities. Ciudad Mante continues to be considered one of the areas controlled by Los Zetas.

The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. This article was written by “J.A. Espinoza” from Tamaulipas.
