U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two previously deported sex offenders after they illegally reentered the United States this past weekend. These criminal alien sex offenders were apprehended in isolated incidents.

Agents assigned to the Three Points Station arrested Agustin Espinoza-Nunez who attempted to enter the country southwest of Tucson illegally. In 1999, a court previously convicted the 35-year-old Mexican national for felony sexual assault in Phoenix. His record also includes a 2016 conviction for re-entering the U.S. after being previously deported. Three Points, Arizona is in Pima County on the U.S.-Mexico border. The state of Sonora, Mexico is just south of Pima County.

Just 30 minutes later, Border Patrol agents arrested Sergio Barajas-Cruz southwest of Why, Arizona. The 32-year-old with a conviction for rape illegally re-entered the country after being previously deported. Barajas-Cruz has a sexual assault conviction in Oregon from 2000.

A statement obtained by Breitbart Texas from U.S. Customs and Border Protections officials said that the two Mexican citizens would be prosecuted on felony immigration charges.

Breitbart Texas reported just five days before the day these two were arrested that a 23-year-old Honduran man was apprehended by agents working in the Tucson Sector. Wilmer Orlando Redondo-Ulloa had a felony conviction for sexual activity with a child under the age of eleven. He is facing felony charges for illegal re-entry after being deported as a sex offender.

In May, agents in the Tucson Sector arrested two sex offenders shortly after they illegally reentered the country from Mexico. Agents working near Ajo, Arizona, arrested a 32-year-old Honduran national, Jose Pineda-Torres, who had been convicted of Facilitation of Attempted Aggravated Sexual Battery in 2012 in Tennessee. Just a short time later, a 34-year-old Mexican national, Adonay Merrillo-Arellano was arrested near Douglas, Arizona. He had previously been deported after a third degree rape conviction in Morrow County, Oregon. He faced new felony criminal charges of illegal reentry after removal as a sex offender.

In March, Breitbart Texas reported three separate incidents where criminal illegal aliens previously convicted of sex offenses were caught by Border Patrol agents in Arizona after reentering the country.

Agents assigned to the Nogales Station arrested a 46-year-old Mexican national who had an extensive criminal history dating back to 1990 as well as prior deportations. His most recent deportation had just happened a few weeks before this apprehension by immigration agents. One of Rene Murillo-Almansa’s convictions included rape of a child.

Two Mexican nationals were apprehended after crossing the border in southern Arizona in late March. Agents arrested Vicente Gonzalez-Hernandez near Sasabe, Arizona. His lengthy criminal history included a conviction for “felony assault to commit mayhem/rape” in the state of California. Two days later, agents apprehended Jose Luis Cornejo Contreras outside the city limits of Douglas, Arizona. His criminal history in the U.S. included a conviction in California for having sexual intercourse with a minor, and numerous convictions for battery. Cornejo Contreras had also served time in prison for rape of a young person.

In February, Breitbart Texas reported that agents in the El Centro Sector, Southern California, arrested their fifth previously deported sex offender since the new fiscal year began in October. Following the arrests of two previously deported sex offenders in Southern California in early February, El Centro Sector Assistant Chief Patrol Agent David S. Kim said, “These two arrests highlight the importance of knowing who is coming into the United States. The two sex offenders our Border Patrol Agents arrested took advantage of and preyed on minors. Our agents shield our communities and our country from threats like this every day.”

In April, Border Patrol officials in the Rio Grande Valley Sector told Breitbart Texas that as of March 13, their agents arrested more than 100 previously deported sex offenders during this fiscal year. The new fiscal year began on October 1, 2016.

Across the nation, ICE officials attempting to deport alien sex offenders released nearly 600 back into communities. Many of those included criminal aliens who their home countries refused to accept their repatriation.
