HOUSTON, Texas — The Harris County District Attorney’s Office filed capital murder charges against a woman after she allegedly stabbed her own daughter to death. The killing of the four-year-old came after the woman reportedly fought with a yet unnamed boyfriend.
Police officers arrested 34-year-old Laquita Lewis after finding the body of her young daughter, Fredricka Allen, in an apartment complex on the city’s northwest side, the Houston Chronicle reported. Harris County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Thomas Gilliand told reporters deputies made the horrific discovery at the crime scene late Sunday evening.
Lewis went to a local hospital after being involved in a car crash earlier that evening. Gilliand said the mother texted family members saying she might have harmed the child. The family members apparently notified police about the possible crime and deputies responded.
This is not Lewis’ first run-in with Harris County law enforcement. The woman is currently on probation for making death threats against her ex-husband, Donnell Lewis, Jr. Court records obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed the woman received a deferred adjudication conviction and a sentence of 15 months probation from a Harris County misdemeanor court four months earlier.
She has also filed three paternity suits, all dismissed, against two different men, the Houston newspaper reported.
Gilliand described it as “a horrible situation” in a statement to reporters.
KHOU CBS11 in Houston reported Lewis had been in a fight with her boyfriend earlier in the day. Officials have not yet released the time of death for the young Fredricka Allen.
The local CBS affiliate described the scene as so horrific that chaplains were dispatched to console family members of the little girl and the deputies who responded to the crime scene.
