One of the top executives for an India-based outsourcing firm says President Donald Trump’s expected “America First” reform to the H-1B visa “will hurt” the outsourcing industry.
Tech Mahindra Vice Chairman Vineet Nayyar said in a conference call that Trump’s expected moves for H-1B reform would be a detriment to his industry.
“Trump’s America First agenda and focus on curbing the immigration, especially around H-1B visa policies, will hurt,” Nayyar said on the phone call.
When it came to Trump’s proposed merit-based immigration system, where only immigrants with skills needed in the U.S. economy would be admitted to the country, would also be a pain in the side of the outsourcing industry.
“We all will have to realign our business models to the new reality,” Nayyar said.
Every year, more than 100,000 foreign workers are brought to the U.S. on the H-1B visa. Most recently, that number has ballooned to potentially hundreds of thousands each year, as universities and non-profits are exempt from the cap. With more entering the U.S. through the visa, Americans are often replaced.
Pro-American worker advocates like John Miano and Sara Blackwell have previously told Breitbart Texas that the H-1B visa has allowed for corporate executives to take considerable pay increases every year, while at the same time, Americans are fired and replaced with H-1B foreign workers.
Trump’s new executive order targeting abuse by U.S. companies, as Breitbart Texas reported, calls for the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Labor Department and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to conduct a “full legal analysis” of all the problems negatively impacting American workers in the H-1B visa system.
