President Donald Trump’s plan for a merit-based immigration system has billionaire George Soros’ Open Society Foundation in hysterics.
During an interview with the New York Times, former Obama White House immigration official and current strategic advisor for Soros’ Open Society Foundation Angela Maria Kelley said the immigration plan would “make life as miserable as possible.”
“If your single goal is to make life as miserable as possible for those who are here without status, then it’s about as effective as you can get,” Kelley told the Times.
When asked specifically on the Trump budget’s proposal to end giving tax credits to illegal immigrants in the U.S., making it so that individuals claiming the child tax credit must give a valid Social Security Number, Kelley responded with more horror.
“They’re ignoring the fact that these are also programs that benefit U.S. citizen children, and that this is much more likely to push people further underground than it is to push people out of the country,” Kelley said.
The Trump immigration plan included in his budget proposal will take the first steps create a merit-based immigration system, where instead of legal immigrants who already have family in the U.S. getting priority, legal immigrants who have skills needed for the current U.S. economy will be given priority. The plan would subsequently end what’s known as family-chain migration.
“Focusing immigration policy on merit-based admissions has the potential to reduce Federal outlays for welfare payments to lower-skilled immigrant-headed households,” the budget proposal states.
Soros-linked organizations have increased their attacks on the Trump Administration in recent weeks. As Breitbart Texas reported, the Soros-backed media outlet ‘ProPublica’ released a hit piece on Trump’s nominee, Lee Francis Cissna, to run the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
