A formerly convicted felon was charged with a variety of crimes stemming from an attack that was an initiation into the Aryan Brotherhood.

James Dean Farr, 36, pled guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon, habitual misdemeanor assault, soliciting gang activity, and admission of his status as a habitual felon, The News Herald reported.

Farr was sentenced to a prison term of 8 to 11 years by Superior Court Judge Robert C. Ervin in Burke County, North Carolina.

Farr and two co-defendants assaulted a man as part of an initiation into the Aryan Brotherhood at the man’s home in Burke County. Due to the severity of the initiation attack, which was for one of the two co-defendants, the victim was hospitalized.

“The victim was punched in the face, had his head rammed into a wooden post and was stomped while lying on the ground. He later was wrapped in a comforter and taken outside where seven men, including Farr, made claims to being part of the Aryan Brotherhood,” The News Herald reported.

Investigators learned that Farr and other co-defendant were formal gang members in the Aryan Brotherhood.

Farr, a convicted felon, saw his sentence “enhanced” due to his criminal record which includes prior felony convictions for forgery, breaking/entering a motor vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
