An illegal immigrant was convicted and sentenced to life in prison after admitting to sexually abusing two young girls for nearly two years.
Jorge Hernandez, an illegal immigrant who had been living in Texas at the time, will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his sexual abuse of an eight and nine-year-old, whom he abused between 2013 and 2015, according to KXII-TV News.
Hernandez was arrested in December 2016, but initially denied the allegations, telling police “I just hug them like little girls that they are.”
After a half hour of being interrogated by police, Hernandez admitted to the sex crimes, but blamed the two young girls for his abuse of them.
“Like I told you, she was always trying to find a way to touch me and seduce me,” Hernandez said in the interrogation footage.
The victims’ grandmother, Christel Byrd, told KXII-TV that Hernandez got what he deserved and that other children would not have to suffer because of his conviction.
“You have children that have to go through something and it was terrible but they spoke up and we’ll get through it,” Byrd said.
“My grand babies are safe now,” Byrd said. “They have closure. You know it’s over.”
Assistant District Attorney Britton Brooks told the media that the illegal immigrant showed no remorse for his crimes.
“He did the most despicable acts I’ve ever seen in 10 years as a prosecutor,” Brooks said.
“The criminal justice system here worked,” Brooks continued. “Those little girls never have to worry about Jorge Hernandez ever hurting anybody or them again.”
Hernandez will not have the option of parole.
