Failed presidential candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) joined immigration enforcement protesters in Washington, D.C. on the day following the violent assault of a Border Patrol agent in Arizona.
Sanders stood with protesters in the nation’s capital in support of criminals and against law enforcement officers. The activists gathered to protest the arrest of criminal aliens by immigration officers just one day after a Border Patrol agent was assaulted by rocks thrown at him while patrolling the Mexican border in southern Arizona.
Officials with the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307 responded to Sanders and the protesters who ignored the potentially deadly act of violence carried out against one of their fellow agents. The union representatives tweeted, “Assaults on agents up 179 percent, but let’s protest them instead? Thank you to those who support Law Enforcement instead of protesting them!”
The Tweet linked to an article about Sanders and the protesters published by The Hill. The article fails to mention the assaulted Border Patrol agent. It also failed to mention the ICE agent assaulted in Austin, Texas, last month during a targeted enforcement action that rounded up dozens of criminal aliens.
Instead, the article and Sanders chose to make victims out of the criminal aliens being arrested across the country.
“Stop picking on the poor, stop picking on the undocumented,” the Vermont senator said. “President Trump thinks he’s a tough guy because he’s taken on farm workers who make nine or 10 bucks an hour.”
The truth is, Immigration and Customs Officers are targeting criminal aliens. People like the criminal alien who now faces deportation after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old teenager in Trenton, New Jersey. Or the six-time deported illegal alien arrested in South Texas for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. He had illegally re-entered the U.S. after being deported for the sixth time in June 2016.
The article also ignores the 61 criminal aliens arrested during an immigration enforcement operation in Nevada. Those arrested include foreign nationals convicted of armed robbery, sex crimes, child abuse, assault, domestic violence, drug offenses, and previously deported aliens.
It also failed to mention the eight illegal alien sex offenders ICE agents arrested during a two-day enforcement operation in New York City, or the Mexican child molester arrested by ICE agents in DeKalb County, Georgia.
The overwhelming majority of aliens arrested by ICE during this year’s targeted operation are people with prior criminal histories, charges of serious crimes including crimes of violence, fugitives who have been evading an order of removal from an immigration judge, or illegal aliens who have re-entered the U.S. after being deported, ICE officials reported in previous statements.
Instead of facing these facts, Sanders chose to mock President Trump who is keeping his campaign promise of removing criminal aliens from the streets of this country.
“He’s a tough guy because he can throw moms and dads out of this country,” Sanders exclaimed. “Well I say to Mr. Trump, if you’re such a tough guy, why don’t you take on the insurance companies and drug companies and Wall Street.”
Monday’s assault on a Border Patrol agent came as the agent responded to an illegal border crossing near San Luis, Arizona, according to information obtained from U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. The agent followed footprints in the sand and apprehended one of the two illegal border crossers. As he was tracking the second illegal alien, people on the opposite side of the fence began throwing large rocks. The agent took cover inside his vehicle and retreated from the scene, but not before one of the rocks smashed his windshield. The agent managed to escape injury, but many agents have received severe injuries from these types of rock attacks.
Border Patrol union officials reminded Twitter followers about the increasing numbers of assaults on Border Patrol agents that have occurred since the new fiscal year began in October. During the first two month of the fiscal year, assaults jumped by an alarming 230 percent, Breitbart Texas reported in December. That number tapered off during the next two months, leaving only a 103 percent increase in assaults on agents.
While Border Patrol agents and other immigration enforcement officers continue to protect American citizens from violent criminals, Sanders and his ilk propagate false claims against the Trump Administration for “picking on the poor and the undocumented.”
