An anti-Trump hooligan in Cleveland, Ohio, is in jail after being captured on video spitting in the face of a police officer.
A Fox8Cleveland cameraman observed a confrontation between protesters and Cleveland police officers. The cameraman moved in closer at the officer attempted to take the protester into custody. As the cameraman got closer, he captured the moment the protester spat in the officers face.
The confrontation began Friday afternoon as officers were escorting a group of protesters down the street. Police officers had cleared a path and blocked streets to enable a peaceful protest march. The group marched in protest of the inauguration of President Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States.
One of the protesters appeared to approach a bicycle-mounted police officer. It appears the protester reached out and grabbed the officer who was escorting the group. Other officers quickly rushed to the officer’s aid.
The officer responded by grabbing the protester and attempting to take him into custody. The man is seen pulling away and then spitting directly in the officers face. The officer visibly recoiled from the assault.
The confrontation escalated when a woman is seen attempting to extricate the man from the officer’s grasp. Other officers reached in and pushed her away. She fell to the ground.
Another woman attempted to intervene. Police arrested her and took her to jail. The 21-year-old woman could face charges of aggravated disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, Fox8 reported.
The man who was seen spitting on the officer also faced charges. The 19-year-old Cleveland resident could face a felony assault charge for spitting on the officer in addition to the other charges face by the woman.
