Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector stopped six sex offenders from re-entering the U.S. in less than one week. One of the sex offenders was allegedly smuggling marijuana.

The agents, working in the Weslaco area, arrested a U.S. citizen who was in the process of smuggling 600 pounds of marijuana from Mexico, Border Patrol officials reported in a statement. During a records check, agents learned the man had previously been arrested by the Donna Police Department in 2010 for the Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, officials reported.

A few days earlier, Border Patrol agents working near Hidalgo found a Honduran national who had crossed the border from Mexico. The man was taken to the Border Patrol station for processing where agents learned he had previously been arrested for Lewd Lascivious Acts with a minor, Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Marlene Castro reported. The Honduran man had been arrested by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.

The McAllen Border Patrol Station also reported that four other sexual offenders were arrested in the Weslaco area. No information about the nationality of these sex offenders was provided. Their sexual offenses were also not reported. The local Border Patrol office also did not report if any of the illegal aliens had been previously deported. No information was provided about the disposition of the suspects.

Breitbart Texas reached out to Castro to get more information about these sex offenders. Castro stated she could not provide additional information citing privacy issues of the suspects.
