Police in Lubbock, Texas, responded to an emergency call about a man dancing on the concrete barrier of a freeway overpass on the city’s south side. The man was reportedly wearing a wrestling mask and a Wonder Woman cape.
Dispatchers received several frantic calls about the man and dispatched officers to the scene at about 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday. One of the callers said the man had caused a car wreck as people were forced to suddenly brake to avoid hitting him, according to a report on KCBD NBC 11 in Lubbock. Another caller reported the man was waving a stick around while dancing on the overpass.
The video below by Mandy Vinson shows the man dancing precariously on the concrete barrier of an overpass on the Highway 289 South Loop. The cape can be seen briefly as the man sweeps around.
Officers arrived and found the man they later identified as 43-year-old Chad Jason Coffey. He was safely taken into custody. Coffey was taken to the Lubbock County Jail. Information from the jail obtained by Breitbart Texas shows the man is still in custody as of the publication of this document. No bond information was available at press time.
No injuries were reported by the local NBC affiliate.
A public records search shows a Chad Jason Coffee with the same description and date of birth as having an extensive criminal history. He previously sentenced to three years in prison for Burglary of a Vehicle, and ten years for Aggravated Robbery. He also had a previous arrest for Driving Under the Influence the public records revealed.
