CIUDAD VICTORIA, Tamaulipas — A recently leaked video revealed the moment when cartel gunmen set fire to a gas station in the latest example of the lawlessness that local residents from this border state continue to report.
Last week, a team of gunmen arrived to a local gas station in the rural community of Llera where they opened the gasoline pump to spray fuel around the property. Once the men were at a distance, a short video revealed the moment they set fire to it. The store shortly become fully engulfed in flames.
Tamaulipas law enforcement sources consulted by Breitbart Texas revealed that the brazen attack is the latest example of a region where cartel members continue to extort money from local businesses to the point of running them out of town. The video was leaked to various citizen journalists throughout the state after government officials appeared to ignore the case and continue to remain silent about the out-of-control violence that reigns locally.
As Breitbart Texas has been reporting for more than 11 months, two rival faction of the Los Zetas cartel continue to fight for control of key areas in Tamaulipas. The warring between the two factions has resulted in a dramatic spike in violence that has spread terror throughout the state as kidnappings, beheadings, dismemberments, drive by shootings and large scale gun battles have become an almost daily event.
