A Montgomery County, Texas, man is in jail after he allegedly smashed his way into a police car with a toilet lid. The man blames a night of excessive drinking for the incident.
19-year-old Dionis Luque-Estrada woke up Monday morning in the back seat of a Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable patrol car parked outside the department headquarters. How he got there remains a mystery as he says he has no recollection of the previous night’s events.
It appears Luque-Estrada passed out in the back seat of the patrol car after he allegedly picked up a toilet lid he found in a nearby dumpster and smashed several windows of the patrol car, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter.
The man later managed to move a concrete parking stop over to the patrol car and used it to smash in some of the side panels before crawling into the car and passing out.
Later that morning, a person driving by called and reported that the vehicle’s windows appeared like they had been shot out. Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, and officers from the Conroe Police Department, responded to the call and found Luque-Estrada asleep in the back seat of the car.
Officials told Engle the seven-year-old patrol car had just recently been refurbished and equipped for reserve deputies. Constable Gene DeForest said the car is repairable but estimated that the damage was about $4,000. The car had not yet been placed back into service after being restored for patrol duty.
The 19-year-old was transported to the Montgomery County Jail where he now faces a felony criminal mischief charge.
