U.S. Border Patrol agents working in New Mexico captured a previously deported sex offender after he illegally re-entered the United States.

Agents from the Santa Teresa Station were patrolling on all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) when they picked up the trail of suspected illegal immigrants who had just crossed the border from Mexcio. The agents followed the trail through the desolate and highly rugged terrain and found four suspected illegal aliens hiding in the brush, information obtained by Breitbart Texas from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed. The four suspects were taken to the Santa Teresa station for processing.

A records check revealed one of the men, a 34-year-old Mexican national, revealed an extensive criminal history. One of his convictions was for “Consensual Sexual Intercourse-with-a-Child-Under-18-Years-of-Age.” That convictions was from an incident in Culpeper County, Virginia, officials stated. The Mexican national was taken to the Otero County Prison where he will be held pending prosecution for felony illegal re-entry by a sex offender.

The remaining illegal immigrants were processed at the station without further incident.

Border Patrol agents from the Lordsburg Station in New Mexico also made a drug smuggling bust over the weekend. The agents were working in the “boot heel” region of southeastern New Mexico when they came across the trail of four men who had recently crossed the border. The agents could see the four men were carrying large backpacks.

The agents tracked down the four smuggling suspects and found them attempting to hide in the desert brush, CBP officials stated. Utilizing a K-9 officer, the agents searched the area and found the backpacks that had been hidden by the suspects. In total, the Border Patrol agents found 16 burlap-wrapped bundles. A total of 388 pounds of marijuana was discovered inside the backpacks.

The agents took Jesus Tadeo Oracio, 23, Paco Rascon Ponce, 33, Miguel Garcia Ortega, 27, and Mario Paredes Miranda, 25, into custody. The four suspects and the $310,000 worth of marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for possible prosecution.

The actions of the Border Patrol agents illustrates the need to secure the border to prevent the smuggling of dangerous drugs and prevent the re-entry of sex offenders who have been removed from the country for unlawful behavior. Breitbart Texas has reported extensively on incidents where Border Patrol agents have stopped previously deported sex offenders from making their way back to the streets in America where they would likely carry out more criminal actions.

Other reports cover previously deported illegal aliens who have either been captured re-entering the United States, or who have been found carrying out additional crimes against American citizens. Most notable among these was the previously deported illegal alien who murdered Kate Steinle in the Sanctuary City of San Francisco.
