WaPo Fails to Discredit Trump Donations to Louisiana Flood Victims

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – After The Washington Post attempted to discredit GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s donations to Louisiana flood victims on his trip to flood-ravaged region, the campaign is now debunking the claims in an exclusive statement to Breitbart Texas.

In a piece titled “Did Donald Trump make donations for flood relief in Louisiana? Here’s what we know”, the Post questioned the whether or not Trump donated $100,000 to the Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, as well as the truck-load of supplies he purported to have given.

Trump campaign press secretary Hope Hicks clarified to Breitbart Texas the New York business mogul’s donations to flood victims.

“He donated the truck full of supplies and 100k to a church aiding in the relief efforts,” Hicks said in statement. “The church confirmed the donation.”

The Washington Post’s piece reported at the time that the Greenwell Springs Baptist Church donation, the church Trump visited volunteers at on his trip to the state, had not been paid yet.

Secondly, the Post attempted to stir up confusion over the supplies Trump donated to flood victims, questioning church pastor Mark Stermer on the specific details when and if Trump’s truck-load of supplies arrived with the presidential candidate.

Stermer later admits to the Washington Post “Man, it’s so chaotic over there, we were just getting trucks in and out.”

A spokeswoman for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the Washington Post that Trump had donated a truck full of supplies for victims, but reports “she hadn’t seen it herself.”

The Washington Post also questioned if Trump had given to the Louisiana Flood Relief Fund, asking “Did he? The [Baton Rouge Area Foundation] declined to comment.”

Trump, though, never suggested that he donated to the relief fund and Hicks did not mention any donation made by Trump to Breitbart Texas.

The Post made no mention of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s donations to Louisiana flood victims, as it is still unclear if she has donated at all to the relief effort.
