Texas Man Finally Heads to Prison for Animal ‘Crush’ Videos

A Texas man sentenced to prison for 50 years in February 2016 is finally going behind bars. The convicted animal cruelty filmmaker will now report to prison following his conviction and sentencing on additional charges related to the distribution of sexually-oriented videos depicting the torturous killings of small animals.

Brent Justice, 55, was sentenced in a federal district court to spend 50 years in a state prison for filming the “animal crush videos,” Breitbart Texas reported in February 2016. This week, Justice was again sentenced on additional charges of producing and distributing the videos. Court records obtained by Breitbart Texas show that Justice was convicted on the additional charges in May. He has been sentenced to 5-years in prison on the new charges. The sentence will run concurrently with the previous 50-year sentence.

His video star, Ashley Nicole Richards, testified against Justice after previously pleading guilty on federal charges. The duo are believed to be the first people charged and convicted under a 2010 Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act. The law prohibits the filming and distribution of videos depicting humans torturing animals.

Shadwick reported on the contents of one of the videos produced by Justice:

To describe just one of these videos, Richards squeezed and shook a cat’s neck, then tapes him to a piece of cardboard and whips him with a rope. She pushed the heel of her high-heel shoe into the cat’s mouth and then struck the cat multiple times with a meat cleaver.

During the video Richards asks the cat if it has had enough, puts the blade of a knife in the cat’s anus numerous times, chops the cat’s arm off, rips the skin of the cat exposing the cat’s organs, and uses a meat cleaver to chop and saw the cat’s neck until it is severed from its body.

The woman says during the video, “Now that’s how you f**k a pu**y real good.” Richards then urinates on the dead cat and says, “Kiss my a**. Kiss it bit*h. Kiss it.”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sherri Zack told the Houston Chronicle on Thursday, “This was a difficult yet important case. As the first successful prosecution since the statute was amended in 2010, we believe the punishment imposed today sends a clear message that these horrific acts should not and will not be tolerated.”

The sentencing handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Sim Lake is at the top of the sentencing guidelines, Zack told the local newspaper.

Justice has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1979. He was convicted of the felony offense of aggravated assault on a peace officer on July 14, 1984, in Harris County. Other convictions include theft, three convictions for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (2004, 1984, and 1979), disorderly conduct/family assault, and another aggravated assault of a peace officer charge in 1980.

The charges against Justice and Richards grew out of a complaint filed by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in 2012, court  records revealed. The group filed the complaint after learning about videos depicting the torturing and killing of cats, dogs, puppies, mice, a rooster, a pigeon, birds, and fish. In one of the videos, Richards skinned a rabbit alive and then cut off its head, Shadwick wrote. She would do these horrible acts on video while wearing sexually suggestive clothing.
