Orlando Terrorist’s Imam: Sharia Law ‘Already in the Constitution’

A Florida Imam with close ties to Omar Mateen, the Islamic terrorist who killed 50 people at an Orlando gay nightclub,  says Sharia Law is not only “the best law,” but claims it is “already in the Constitution.”

Abu Taubah, one of the most radical Imam’s in the country, said it is necessary for Muslims to use the political system in order to be treated fairly as he spoke about Sharia Law in an interview with Counter Jihad.

“Sharia law is good, it’s the best law,” Taubah said. “People don’t even know what parts of Sharia Law are already in the Constitution.”

“This all goes toward the confusion on Sharia and Islam,” Taubah continued. “We need more knowledge about these things. There’s nothing wrong with using the political system to make sure we [Muslims] get treated fairly. The Jews and homos already do it.”

Taubah, who headed the Islamic Sanctuary in Florida, also refused to denounce the Islamic State (ISIS) in his conversation with Muslim reformer Shireen Qudosi.

“I haven’t read up on ISIS,” said Taubah. “ISIS never said they’re a bad group. The ones that say this are the same ones who said Saddam had weapons of mass destruction.”

“I don’t know if they’re good or bad,” Taubah said. “All is see is all these groups attacking them, and they’re just fighting to survive.”

A few months ago, Breitbart News reported how Taubah denied ties to the Orlando Islamic terrorist, saying that he had never met with Mateen face-to-face because his preaching is done through video seminars.

Mateen, though, did take an online course in Taubah’s Islamic seminar series and even joined the Fundamental Islamic Knowledge group, which Taubah was head of at the time, as Breitbart News reported.

Taubah has yet to denounce Mateen, saying once again that he will not denounce the Islamic terrorist, but rather denounce his actions.

“When I was interviewed [on Fox News,] they wanted me to denounce the person Omar Mateen,” said Taubah. I said no, we don’t denounce people; we denounce actions. And I denounce this action. I hate this action. But I don’t hate Omar Mateen, and I don’t denounce him.”

Mateen’s father, Seddique Mateen, made headlines weeks ago when he attended a campaign rally in order to show support for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Breitbart News reported.

Seddique Mateen has previously stated his support for the Afghan Taliban, an Islamic terrorism force.
