PIEDRAS NEGRAS, Coahuila — Authorities in this border city continue to look into the reasons why a woman was gunned down in front of her boyfriend and their young daughter. The family had been sleeping in their home in the Villa de Fuente neighborhood when a gunman fired through the window shooting at them.
Information provided to Breitbart Texas by Coahuila State Investigators revealed that Martha Julia Rodriguez was struck by five bullets killing her almost immediately. Her boyfriend 55-year-old Ricardo Moreno Macias was struck once in the leg.
First responders had to call officials with the local orphanage to take care of a young girl who was at the house at the time of the murder. The young girl was not injured by the flying bullets.
While a motive has not been revealed, the working theory of the murder points to a gunman walking up to the window, breaking it and then firing into the home. Authorities have not revealed if the weapon used was a rifle or a handgun.
Ricardo Moreno Macias, the victim who survived the attack is the father of Adrian Ricardo Moreno Robles, a local businessman who was murdered in April along with Mario Medina Martinez. The younger Moreno was the owner of various gas stations in Coahuila and had travelled to the industrial city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, where he was murdered.
Mexican authorities have not yet solved the murder of Moreno Robles, but the specifics of the crime scene lead authorities to believe that it was tied to organized crime. Both men were found on the side of a street in the ritzy San Jeronimo neighborhood with bullet wounds from AR-15 rifles. Medina Martinez had been handcuffed and both bodies had been tortured before their murder.
Editor’s Note: Breitbart Texas traveled to the Mexican States of Tamaulipas, Coahuila and Nuevo León to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities. The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. This article was written by “J.M. Martinez” from Coahuila.
