HOUSTON, Texas — Green Party presidential nominee Dr. Jill Stein told journalists gathered after the Green Party convention, “The DNC is kind-of accusing Russia of being underhanded and sneaky, in order to cover-up the DNC’s underhanded and sneaky behavior towards the Sanders’ campaign.” Her vice presidential running mate, Ajamu Baraka blamed the press for running with the story.
Stein and Baraka addressed the issue of the Democrat’s claim that Russia was trying to manipulate the U.S. presidential race by leaking DNC emails that implicated the DNC in working to defeat the Sanders campaign and whether Russia was involved.
Stein told reporters gathered, “If in fact this was foul play from Russia, this is what goes on all the time. This is not something new, or surprising. This is the way the game works.” She said there was nothing unusual or surprising about the backstabbing that goes on through cyberspace, or the theft of data.
“Russia is spying on us, and the DNC, as the DNC was backstabbing Bernie Sanders,” she said. “All that is reprehensible.”
“The DNC is kind-of accusing Russia of being underhanded and sneaky, in order to cover-up the DNC’s underhanded and sneaky behavior towards the Sanders’ campaign,” Stein continued.
Baraka added, “Even if that was in fact the case, and we don’t really know, people refer to it like it is a done deal in terms of the so-called objective evidence.”
“What I found interesting was how quickly the press ran with the story, with the line that this was some type of interference from the big, bad, Russians,” Baraka said.
The Green Party vice presidential candidate continued, “Effectively diverting away from the real story which was the fact that the Sanders’ campaign was set-up for failure, that there was collusion with the Democrats to make sure that the Sanders’ revolution was not going to succeed. That was the story – the absence of democracy, the undermining of democracy – that was the real story.”
“We got so easily diverted into this cloak and dagger kind of nonsense, and people, and how people just took their story and ran with it. So, I say we have got to be a little more sophisticated if you will, and not allow ourselves to be so easily manipulated,” Baraka urged.
As reported by Breitbart News, after the WikiLeaks email scandal, Hillary Clinton’s campaign blamed the Russians. “What’s disturbing to us is that experts are telling us Russian state actors broke into the DNC, stole these emails, and other experts are now saying that the Russians are releasing these emails for the purpose of actually of helping Donald Trump,” Hillary’s campaign manager Robby Mook said. The Kremlin denied any involvement.
On Friday, Breitbart News’ Ben Kew reported that Julian Assange had suggested that Russia was not behind the hack that leaked 20,000 emails from the Democratic National Committee’s email accounts. Assange told the news outlet Russia Today, “Russia has been brought up by Hillary Clinton just a few days ago, so I think it is necessary to address what Wikileaks feels is its perception of its own publication.”
Assange also claimed that some of the evidence found in a PDF conversion containing Russian language is not conclusive that Russia was involved. “That is the circumstantial evidence that some Russian, or someone who wanted to make them look like a Russian, was involved, with these other media organizations. That is not the case for the material that we released,” Assange said.
Julian Assange, the founder and editor-in-chief of Wikileaks, spoke to the Green Party of the United States Convention via livefeed on Saturday, as reported by Breitbart Texas.
Viewers noted during the livestream that Assange had not revealed anything new. Green Party delegates; however, appreciated the fact that Assange took the time to address them. During the livestream, Assange did compare Google and other media to HIV saying the virus of the media blocks the freedom to communicate.
Supporters of former Democratic presidential candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) were outraged by the leaked emails that revealed the DNC’s plans to derail Sanders’ candidacy.
Breitbart Texas observed many disenfranchised Sanders supporters at the Green Party’s convention.
Breitbart Texas interviewed “Bernie or Bust” activist Debbie Lusignan, as well as featured speaker, YahNé Ndgo.
Ndgo, a self-described “Bernie Lover,” asked convention goers at the convention in Houston, “Are you going to try to go inside there and reform this [Democratic] Party, that has demonstrated in every way, with every opportunity, that they really do not give a flying f**k about what it is you care about?” “And for me, that’s not a hard decision,” Ndgo said.
Lusignan told Breitbart Texas, “The Clintons did a very racist deed back in the ’90’s when they worked to create a prison bill, a crime bill, that resulted in the largest incarceration of African American citizens in our nation’s history. That’s a racist deed,” she said.
