HOUSTON, Texas – A Hispanic Green Party official had a Breitbart Texas reporter thrown out of a reception because some local open-borders, pro-amnesty, Hispanic activists felt “threatened by Breitbart’s presence.” The official said they needed a “safe place.”
Green Party Nominating Convention Co-Chair Andrea Merida asked officers for the University of Houston to escort Associate Editor Bob Price out of the Green Party pre-convention reception. As reported by Breitbart Texas, the Green Party Nominating Convention is being held at the University of Houston (UofH) Student Center from August 4th to August 6th.
When the Green Party official claimed the event was closed to the media, Price confirmed he had been told by party officials that the event was open to media and that other media members were in the room. “Well, they’re not threatening to people in that room,” Merida said.
Price asked her if he had done anything while in the room that caused alarm, Merida said no “but I need to make sure that these folks feel safe. This is a safe place for all parties involved, especially with immigration right now.”
Price was attending the event to talk with disenfranchised Bernie Sanders supporters who are now supporting the Green Party’s presumptive presidential nominee Jill Stein.
Officer R. Raulerson asked about Price’s credentials saying they looked like they were homemade (credentials shown in photo below). Price answered saying that the Green Party issued those credentials to him.
Raulerson told Price he was welcome to stay in the hallways outside the room because the UofH Student Center is a public building. Honoring that request, Price thanked the officers for doing their job and left the room but continued interviewing the Sanders supporters who are now supporting the Green Party’s candidate.
Merida approached Price again when he was standing by the officers. She asked him to leave the building saying, “You have messed with those Latino activists who are in this room. You are causing upset and that’s enough.”
Officers told Merida that the building was a public place and that a Green Party official could only control the room they had rented.
