Border Patrol Agents Bust Human Stash House Near Texas Border

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector raided a human smuggling stash house near the Texas border with Mexico and captured 28 illegal aliens.

Border Patrol agents working with the Alton Police Department learned about a house in Mission, Texas, where human smugglers were warehousing their “cargo.” Following a traffic stop by the Alton police, Border Patrol agents questioned the driver and determined he was involved in the smuggling scheme. He told agents he was the “caretaker” of the stash house, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Border Patrol revealed.

The Mexican national gave agents his consent to have them search the home. Upon arrival to the stash house, agents discovered 28 people who were being warehoused in the small home. Agents took the illegal immigrants into custody. The illegal immigrants were from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador, and El Salvador.

The caretaker was arrested and processed for possible prosecution for human smuggling. The 28 illegal aliens were taken to the McAllen Border Patrol Station for processing.

No information about the ages or genders of the illegal aliens was provided in the statement. The photos included in this article show the immigrants to be mostly male. Some appear to be juveniles.

Human smugglers hold the illegal immigrants in stash houses while waiting to take them through their smuggling operation to bypass the border patrol checkpoints located about 70-80 miles north of the border. Often they are held hostage as the smugglers attempt to extort additional money from family members to move them along the process. Women are often raped and otherwise sexually assaulted during their stay in these stash houses. Men may be beaten and threatened to keep them in line.

The danger does not end with border area stash houses. While moving the immigrants around the Border Patrol checkpoints, many die after being abandoned in the fields by their smugglers. The smugglers will leave them behind, often without water, in 100+ degree heat, if they become injured, dehydrated, exhausted, or otherwise cannot keep up with the pack.

Once they get around the checkpoint, they are often placed in other stash houses along their journey where the process of abuse repeats itself.
