Three Mexican children were discovered by U.S. Border Patrol agents in an attempt to smuggle them into the United States using falsified birth certificates.

On July 15, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted a sedan carrying four minors bound for the United States at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry. Although the adult passengers presented inspection officers with documents that purported to be birth certificates demonstrating U.S. citizenship, three of the children were found to be Mexican nationals “with no legal documents to enter or reside in the U.S.”, according to a statement provided by the CBP. The fourth minor was found to be an American and biological child to the driver, an American citizen as well.

Port Director John Brandt hailed the incident as another success for the checkpoint officers.

“Our officers prevented three children from being exploited as human cargo in an alleged smuggling attempt.”

Both American adults, residing in Eagle Pass, Texas, will face a federal magistrate judge for alleged violation of immigration laws, according to the statement obtained by Breitbart Texas.

Breitbart Texas’ Bob Price recently reported on the extent some human smuggling networks will go to conceal and transport their “cargo”.

“Human smugglers hold the illegal immigrants in stash houses while waiting to take them through their smuggling operation to bypass the border patrol checkpoints located about 70-80 miles north of the border. Often they are held hostage as the smugglers attempt to extort additional money from family members to move them along the process. Women are often raped and otherwise sexually assaulted during their stay in these stash houses. Men may be beaten and threatened to keep them in line.”
