CIUDAD VICTORIA, Tamaulipas — Gunmen with the Los Zetas cartel have murdered a four-month-old baby, her two brothers, as well as her mother and grandmother in the most recent massacre aimed at spreading terror in this city. The massacre comes just days after cartel gunmen murdered 19 others in a series of weekend attacks.
On Thursday evening, a group of Los Zetas gunmen stormed a house in the Pedro Sosa neighborhood. By the time authorities arrived, they found the bullet riddled bodies of the five victims.
The Tamaulipas government issued a short statement confirming the murder and claiming that they did not have a motive for the murder nor any suspects. Authorities claimed to have found an AR-15 in the house; the statement did not specify if the gunmen had left the weapon behind, or if it belonged to someone in the house.
Breitbart Texas was able to identify the victims as four-month-old Angela Tovar Galicia, her brothers 13-year-old Victor and 15-year-old Osiel Tovar Galicia. The two adults have been identified as 36-year-old Norma Galicia Alvarado and the woman’s mother 54-year-old Maria Francisca Alvarado Juarez. The family’s father 43-year-old Victor Hugo Tovar Soto, had been working at the time his relatives were murdered.
The massacre comes just days after the Cartel Del Noreste (CDN) faction of the Los Zetas murdered 11 members of one family, as part of a series of assassinations that left a total of 19 dead, Breitbart Texas previously reported. Three of the victims in that attack included a U.S. woman and her two daughters. who had been visiting relatives in Mexico.
As Breitbart Texas has been reporting, for more than eight months, the CDN faction of the Los Zetas has been at war with another faction known as Vieja Escuela Z (Old School). The two warring factions have brought a wave of terror that includes daily kidnappings, drive by shootings, shootouts and gory executions. Most recently the CDN had issued a warning to the Mexican government taking credit for murdering innocent victims and warning the murder of others unless they received government protection, Breitbart Texas reported.
Editor’s Note: Breitbart Texas traveled to the Mexican States of Tamaulipas, Coahuila and Nuevo León to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities. The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. This article was written by “M.A. Navarro” from Ciudad Victoria.
