HOUSTON, Texas — Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies executing a child pornography search warrant near Houston discovered explosives in the suspect’s home.
Harris County deputies from the High Tech Crimes Unit (HTCU) and the High Risk Operations Unit (HROU) executed a search warrant at the home of two child pornography suspects in the northwest part of the county. As the HROU deputies were making entry into the home, one of the suspects fired shots at the deputies. The deputies did not return fire, according to information provided to Breitbart Texas by the sheriff’s office.
Both of the suspects were eventually taken into custody and no one was injured during the shooting or subsequent arrest.
Deputies discovered “several homemade explosive devices” during the search of the home. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was called to the scene. Bomb Squad deputies secured the scene and safely removed all of the devices from the home.
The home where the explosives were found is located just a few miles outside of the city of Houston in an unincorporated part of the county referred to as the Canyon Lakes Subdivision. The area is an up-scale planned community with large homes located around small man-made lakes.
“The incident demonstrates the dangers Sheriff’s Office tactical response units face and exemplify the professional services the HCSO is dedicated to provide,” Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said in a written statement.
Earlier this year, Breitbart Texas reported on another search warrant execution that led to the discovery of homemade explosives being produced. Officers from the La Marque Police Department were executing a narcotics search warrant in neighboring Galveston County when they discovered a “large quantity of fireworks and equipment” that they said were being used to make a larger explosive device. La Marque is located about 60 miles southeast of Houston.
