To address the “barrage of questions” that has hit Travis County Republicans after the election of their controversial chairman, the county GOP organization has armed itself with a public relations campaign titled “Travis County Republicans Are Bigger Than That.”
The logo for the campaign is an elephant and a star in front of Mt. Bonnell, the highest peak in Austin.
Breitbart Texas has reported about the antics and wild accusations hurled by Robert Morrow, the new Travis County GOP chairman. Morrow was elected on March 1 in the Texas Republican primary. He is known for his obscene tweets, conspiracy theories, and affection for “big boobies.”
In March as reported by Breitbart Texas, John Oliver on Last Week Tonight quippped, “If the Republican Party wasn’t just doing damage control at the national level this week, a number of local elections also threw-up terrifying results. Just look at Texas.” He noted that Morrow has referred to himself as “Donald Trump on Steroids.” The Emmy and Writer’s Guild Award winner highlighted the controversial GOP chairman on his show.
Oliver is just one of a number of national outlets to give attention to Morrow. The New York Times, the Washington Post, and the New York Daily News have all given negative attention to the self-proclaimed Republican.
The new GOP chairman in Austin, Texas, is making headlines for his outrageous statements. As reported by Breitbart Texas, one of his more benign comments – “Driving them up the f**king wall, Master Troll style. Do not try this at home.” Of course, GOP Texans see him as a huge embarrassment to the Party.
The new Travis County Republican Party (TCRP) campaign highlights the problems with their new chairman.
This YouTube video was placed in TCRP “Bigger Than That” campaign materials. The five-minute video shows the issues related to having Morrow at the helm of the county Party, including saying he has no intention of building the Party or raising money for the TCRP.
In the video, Morrow admits “He lucked-up and got elected to the Travis County Republican Party,” but also says, “I really don’t care about the Republican Party. It’s just a platform.” However, he said he “won’t get in your way” if the Party wants to support candidates or raise money. When asked whether he was going to have a physical office, he replied that he did not know how much money was in the coffers of the TCRP and whether the Party had any money for an office.
He said his goal is not “growing the Republican Party” but rather is “political truth-telling.” He calls himself a “conspiracy theorist” and cited one example, alleging that LBJ murdered President JFK. He has also thrown political and personal daggers at Governor Rick Perry, President George W. Bush and others.
Morrow says the “problem with Parties” is that “They end-up being hacks for whatever criminal is in that Party.”
The Travis County Republican Party response is “We’re Bigger Than That.” The TCRP vows to “make the Travis GOP the best county political party in the United States.”
Their answer to all the questions – “We’re bigger than a single elected official.”
