Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Willett tweeted on Memorial Day weekend, “American’s teens & 20-somethings once had a different understanding of ‘safe spaces.'”
The Texas justice known for being prolific on Twitter tweeted out a reminder about the contrast between previous generations and those of today:
He attached photos of WWII military service members in trenches and fox holes, and very young soldiers in landing craft on their way to a probable deadly beachline assault.
Breitbart News has reported extensively about today’s “safe spaces” now required by some modern college students.
In March of 2015, Breitbart News’ William Bigelow wrote “Judith Shulevitz, writing in the New York Times, reports that infantilized college students are indulging their need for insulation by demanding ‘safe spaces’ where any speech that could hurt their feelings would be forbidden.”
Of the “safe spaces” mentioned in the article, one at Brown University for cupcakes upset about a debate on “rape culture” included an area with cookies, coloring books, bubbles, Play-Doh, calming music, pillows, blankets, and a video of puppies.
As the article discusses, Columbia University had a student group called “Everyone Allied Against Homophobia” that distributed fliers in every dorm room which stated “I want this space to be a safe space.” The group told students that the flier should be posted on the windows in their dorm rooms.
Students marched and protested at Northwestern University after a professor discussed her belief that sexual paranoia was pervading campus life. One of the protest organizers was reported to say, “we need to be setting aside spaces to talk” about “victim-blaming.”
The Texas Legislature dubbed Willett the “Tweeter Laureate of Texas” in 2015, as reported by Breitbart Texas.
On May 18, Breitbart Texas’ Bob Price reported that Republican presidential presumptive nominee Donald Trump released a list of eleven jurists he would consider appointing to the U.S. Supreme Court. It included Texas’ Justice Don Willett.
