McALLEN, Texas — The case of one suspected human smuggler who is also an illegal alien, helps provide a deeper understanding of the true figure of individuals being successfully smuggled into the country. The man claimed that in the past six months he has successfully housed more than 300 illegal aliens in his apartment.
Earlier this week, U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Jose Carlos Javier Resendiz, a 29-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, and two other suspects in connection with a human smuggling operation, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed.
At the time of his arrest authorities also found 16 illegal aliens either at Resendiz’s apartment or being moved to and from. During questioning by agents from U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, Resendiz said that he had been working as a caretaker of illegal aliens for about six months. During that time he would be paid $50 per person housed at his apartment. He claimed to have housed about 300 aliens before his arrest.
The claims by the suspected human smuggler of having successfully housed 300 illegal aliens in his apartment come at a time when the area known as the Rio Grande Valley has become, once again, ground zero for a new influx of illegal immigrants. The influx is setting the ground for yet another humanitarian crisis as the government continues to refuse to secure the border.
As Breitbart Texas recently reported, members of the National Border Patrol Council confirmed that agents are seeing a dramatic spike in the number of unaccompanied minors coming through the southern border. The more than 300 illegal aliens that Resendiz admitted to having housed were not unaccompanied minors nor were they detained by authorities pointing to the unknown number of individuals that are being successfully smuggled by criminal organizations.
