VIDEO: Cartel Gunmen Attack Mexican Police Convoy — Get Away With it

MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas — The lack of security conditions along the highways that lead to this border city continue to be an area under the control of cartel members where they are able to attack police vehicles with complete impunity and make clean getaways.

The most recent act of impunity at by cartel gunmen took place on Thursday afternoon on the southern side of the city along the highway that leads to Ciudad Victoria. The attack took place when  two Mexican Federal Police officers riding on two police cars tried to pull over a suspicious white pickup without license plates, information released by the Tamaulipas government revealed.

Rather than stopping, the gunmen tried to drive off setting off a short chase, however a group of gunmen in a red SUV pulled into a brushy area and began to rain gunfire on the police officers in an impromptu ambush.

A bystander took video of the attack which shows police officers with handguns fighting off the ambush as cartel members appear to fire automatic rifles. The firefight ends when a pickup with more federal police officers in tactical gears rolls up to provide backup to their colleagues. The gunmen were able to escape.

Authorities confirmed that during the attack there were no fatalities, injuries nor arrests.

As Breitbart Texas previously reported, members of the Gulf Cartel have been behind multiple ambush style attacks against federal police officers in an effort to keep them out of their highways. The brazen attacks have resulted in multiple police officers being killed while fighting off the attacks.
