REYNOSA, Tamaulipas — Mexican authorities arrested 112 illegal aliens who were in Mexico and headed to Texas in less than one week.
The series of arrests of illegal aliens by Mexican authorities continue to show that human smuggling activities by drug cartels continues to be a problem in this border region.
Mexican Marines arrested 49 illegal aliens and two human smugglers in Reynosa on Wednesday. As part of an ongoing operation, Mexican Marines raided a house in the Las Fuentes neighborhood, information provided by the Tamaulipas government revealed. Inside the house authorities found 49 illegal aliens from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. The two human smugglers who had been holding the aliens in the house are also illegal aliens form Guatemala.
Mexican Marines responded to an anonymous tip on Monday about human smugglers hiding people in the 16 de Septiembre neighborhood in the border city of Reynosa. According to information released by the Tamaulipas government, inside the house, the Mexican marines found 13 illegal aliens from El Salvador and Honduras. Three of the illegal aliens appear to be younger than 18-years-old. The group told authorities that they had been waiting to make their way into Texas.
Tamaulipas authorities arrested 48 illegal aliens from Central America last week in the city of Dias Ordaz who, along with four Mexican nationals, had been hiding in a shack as they prepared to cross into Sullivan City, Texas. According to information released by the Tamaulipas government, state police officers had been patrolling the city and spotted a group of people trying to hide in the shack. When the police officers arrived to check the house they discovered that the group was made up of illegal aliens from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
Mexican authorities confirmed that the illegal aliens were all turned over to Mexico’s National Immigration Institute for deportation procedures.
