Repeat Sex Offender ‘Babysitter’ Gets 50 Years for Producing Child Porn

A Texas coastal resident has been sentenced to fifty years in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing child pornography. The man and his girlfriend had advertised on Craigs List saying they would provide babysitting services. He was found to be engaging in producing child porn when authorities investigated a call for sexual assault of a child.

The 43-year-old, Daniel Benson Billman, Jr. of Aransas Pass had sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl in August 2015 after her mother answered the babysitting ad. Billman sexually assaulted the little girl in his girlfriend’s car and in a hotel. He recorded the crime with video.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for Billman’s residence when they were investigating the sexual assault of the young girl. They seized a cellular telephone and discovered a video and three images of the victim child. It also contained over 1,000 photos of child pornography.

The pornographic images involved infants and toddlers involved in sexually explicit conduct, including acts of bondage and bestiality. The young children were tied with rope and duct tape.

U.S. District Court Judge Janis Graham Jack heard from the little girl’s mother about how Billman’s crime against her daughter had affected the family. The sentencing phase also included hearing that Billman had fourteen prior convictions, including five for failing to register as a sex offender. Billman had also texted a woman who has an eleven-year-old daughter and asked her to take photographs of the little girl. He told the child’s mother what to tell the little girl to get her to have sex with Billman.

This week, the judge ordered Billman to prison for 600 months. If he lives to complete his sentence and be released from prison, he will have to serve the remainder of his life being supervised by authorities. His access to the Internet and to children will be restricted.

Billman was also ordered to pay $8,000 in restitution.

The statement obtained by Breitbart Texas from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas said, “In handing down the sentence, Judge Jack told Billman that if she could have given him more time, she would have done so.”

The case was investigated and prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood. This nationwide initiative was started in May of 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice. According to the Justice Department’s website, “The strategy builds upon the department’s accomplishments in combating child exploitation by establishing specific, aggressive goals and priorities and increasing cooperation and collaboration at all levels of government and the private sector.”

The formal child pornography charge that Billman was convicted of is called sexual exploitation of a child.
