A new revelation in the saga of recently recaptured Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman shows that he suffered from erectile dysfunction and had recently undergone surgery for it.

As previously reported by Breitbart Texas, the head of the Sinaloa Cartel was arrested last week following a fierce gun battle and manhunt in Los Mochis, Sinaloa.

Soon after the capture, Breitbart Texas reported that one of the factors that aided authorities in tracking El Chapo was a series of conversations that he had with soap opera starlet Kate Del Castillo which resulted in an interview with Hollywood activist Sean Penn.

After the meeting, Guzman travelled to Tijuana to have a cosmetic procedure as well as to have surgery for a testicular implant aimed at helping men suffering form erectile dysfunction achieve an erection, Mexico’s SinEmbargo.Mx and Reforma reported.

The scars from the surgery were discovered when Guzman was processed at Mexico’s Altiplano maximum security prison. The operation took place between September and October of last year which is after he had already met Del Castillo and Penn.

A follow up search of the safe house that El Chapo had been using revealed the drug lord kept a stash of injectable Testosterone and other unspecified drugs and supplements aimed at increasing sexual performance.

Despite the awkward twists that El Chapo’s capture has taken, the Sinaloa Cartel continues to be one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in Mexico. As previously reported by Breitbart Texas, despite the image of a modern day Robin Hood that many associate with El Chapo, the drug lord is not above cruel and sadistic acts of violence. During his effort to take over Nuevo Laredo in 2012, El Chapo’s forces used car bombs and placed the body parts of their rivals in public places along with narco-banners. The move was made to warn their rivals and to threaten public officials out of siding with Los Zetas.
