CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A previously deported illegal alien who was arrested while entering the country illegally has pleaded guilty to possession of hundreds of images of child pornography.
On Monday afternoon, Jesus Hernandez Ramos went before senior U.S District Judge Janis Graham Jack and pleaded guilty to the charge of possession child pornography, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed. The illegal alien form Mexico faces a maximum term of 20 years in prison.
On November 2015, a federal grand jury had handed down a five-count indictment against Hernandez. Four of the charges were for possession of child pornography and one count was illegally re-entering the country. On Monday, Hernandez took a plea deal where prosecutors asked that three of the child pornography charges and the illegal re-entry charge be dismissed in exchange for a guilty plea.
Hernandez was originally stopped on April 16, 2014 by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Duval County during a traffic stop. It was during that stop that authorities checked his phone and discovered 980 images and 35 videos of child pornography. These include videos and images of infants.
Agents then turned Hernandez over to the Duval County Sheriff’s Office for investigation and prosecutions on state charges. In November, 2015, federal prosecutors took over the case and sought federal charges on child pornography.
A records check on Hernandez revealed that on March 9, 2013 Ramos was deported after getting caught in the country illegally. Sixteen days after getting deported, Border Patrol agents caught him again near Hebbronville on March 25, 2013.
Court reveal that Hernandez was once again deported on March 31, 2015 just days before he was arrested again in Duval County.
