Narco Banners Threaten Further Violence Towards Los Zetas, Corrupt Officials, Journalists

Breitbart Texas traveled to the Mexican States of Tamaulipas and Coahuila to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities.  The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. CIUDAD VICTORIA, Tamaulipas — Two narco banners hung in this embattled city launched a new series of threats at Los Zetas and their allies within the state government. The banners also make a threat to the local reporters in this city.

The two banners were placed this week in Ciudad Victoria by gunmen claiming to be part of a group called Grupo Bravo. The gunmen placed the banners and fired multiple shots into the air as to draw attention to the banners. Ciudad Victoria is not a border city. It is the state capital of Tamaulipas.

There is no historical record of a Grupo Bravo within the Gulf Cartel or other criminal organization which points to the group likely being a new splinter from Los Zetas. As Breitbart Texas previously reported, Los Zetas in Ciudad Victoria have been undergoing through an internal power struggle that has led to a series of executions and shootouts in this city.

The banner names Cartel Del Noreste or CDN which is a splinter of Los Zetas that operates in the Mexican states of San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas, Coahuila Nuevo Leon and in the city of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. Others named in the banner include the Los Zetas in Ciudad Victoria and their allies.

The banner makes a death threat to Chilo or Isidro who allegedly has the role of being the link between cartel members and news reporters for the past two years. News outlets in Tamaulipas have been muffled by organized crime. However, this past year reporters in Ciudad Victoria had been able to report once again on some of the violence in the region. Local reporters have claimed that they feel threatened not only by the banner but also after the citizen journalist Valor X Tamaulipas posted a comment stating that reporters in this city were likely to have links to the Gulf Cartel because they had been publishing information from the previous banners and violent incidents.
