Richard Dawkins posted a Tweet on Tuesday that compared “Clock Boy,” Ahmed Mohamed to the Islamic State child soldier who beheaded a man and it was captured on video. After being attacked on Twitter, he is backing down from his original statement and saying he was only making the comparison of them being young boys.

Dawkins, the Atheist and self-described English biologist and writer who says he “Treats all religions with good-humored ridicule,” is getting some push-back after he posted the tweet. He questioned whether Clock Boy was only a “kid,” and attached a video of the Islamic State child terrorist beheading his Syrian army officer victim.

As reported extensively by Breitbart Texas, the teen from Irving, Texas, is suing his school district and the City of Irving for $15 million after he was arrested. Mohamed was arrested after the homemade clock he brought to school caused a stir for its resemblance to a bomb.

After Dawkins was trolled on Twitter, he backed down from his earlier statement, and responded that the Clock Boy and the child terrorist who beheaded a man “are comparable in NO other respect than that they are both young.”

Dawkins has been critical of Mohamed in September after the incident occurred at the Texas school and questioned Clock Boy’s motives. He tweeted on September 20th, “I don’t know. Possibly wanted to be arrested? Police played into his hands? Anyway, now invited to White House, crowdfunded etc.”

Hawkins was attacked on Twitter by some and supported by others.
