HIDALGO, Texas — An illegal alien suspected in a stabbing fled to Mexico following the incident. He then returned and surrendered to U.S. authorities.
Hector Rodolfo Rangel Gaytan, 22-years-old from Reynosa, walked to the Hidalgo International Bridge and turned himself in to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, information released to Breitbart Texas by CBP revealed.
The CBP officers took Rangel Gaytan to a secondary inspection area where they used biometric information to confirm that he was in fact the same person wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges out of the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office.
Rangel Gaytan is accused of stabbing a 38-year-old man at an apartment in the border city of Los Fresnos and is believed to have fled to his hometown of Reynosa after the crime to escape from authorities.
“We at CBP Field Operations are always ready to assist our law enforcement partners in apprehending persons who have evaded capture and have outstanding arrests warrants, “said Acting Port Director Javier Cantu in a prepared statement.
