McALLEN, Texas—Federal agents arrested a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent on child pornography charges.
Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigations arrested James Eduard Burke on child pornography charges Friday afternoon.
On Monday morning, Burke went before U.S. Magistrate Judge Dorina Ramos, who ordered him held without bond pending a detention hearing later this week.
The investigation against Burke began last week after FBI agents received information that pointed to Burke accessing files from a website that contained child pornography, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed.
As part of the investigation the agents confirmed that Burke had accessed on February 23, 2015 a series of images that showed pre-pubescent girls having sexual intercourse with a man. The agents also learned that Burke had accessed a second set of files with even more child pornography.
The agents met with the DEA agent accused of watching child porn to interview him, when he told the agents that he had in fact viewed and downloaded child porn images from various websites, the criminal complaint revealed.
Burke told the agents that the files that he had viewed depicted children as young as 10-year-old engaging in sexual activity.
