Dallas Mavericks’ owner, Mark Cuban, jumped back into a war of words with presidential candidate Donald Trump. Cuban took to his social media app, Cyberdust, to linguistically eviscerate Trump over the difference between net worth and cash flow. The duo exchanged nasty words last year as well.
“And the one thing about the race for the Presidency is that it takes a lot of CASH,” Cuban stated, according to the Dallas Morning News (DMN). “Not net worth. Cash. Cash. Cash.”
Cuban mocked Trumps claim of wealth. “He has been bragging that he is worth north of ten billion dollars,” Cuban began in his internet tirade. “Ok. While’s it’s a big number, it’s not an important number. In fact it’s a play number.”
The wealthy basketball team owner explained that if you own an asset like a painting, and you get it appraised for $10 billion, then that gives you a $10 billion net worth. Then he countered that big net worth doesn’t mean you have a lot of cash.
“In fact it’s possible to be worth billions, but not be able to pay your rent,” he concluded.
He asked readers to consider the question of how much cash the Donald has. “We don’t know for sure,” he said. “But we do know whatever cash he has, post his several corporate bankruptcies, he hates to spend it.”
He went on to call Trump a “Paper Tiger.”
It is not the first time the two wealthy men have come to verbal blows. Last year, the DMN reported an exchange that began when Cuban joked that Trump couldn’t afford to buy the NFL’s Buffalo Bills football team.
“He can’t afford them by himself,” Cuban claimed. “So it would be interesting to see what group he put together to buy them. It would make things interesting.”
Trump responded quickly and loudly, saying:
Mark Cuban is a lightweight whose net worth is a fraction of mine. He was rejected by baseball and probably plenty of others! By the way, the Dallas Mavericks deal is syndicated and his partners have been fighting him over poor management. While the Bills deal would be easily handled by me, if I chose to do it, almost all sports deals are syndicated.
By the way, I watched him play golf and he is a total non-athlete – zero clubhead speed. He lives vicariously through his basketball players.
Cuban responded by claiming not to be a golfer at all. “Funny because I never golf,” he said. “Never. 1x in my entire life. Donald, I’m glad you got the chance to watch me golf. Where? If you want to know the real story about my golf game, call my club, Dallas National and see what they have to say …”
Going back to this year’s battle of words about Trump’s presidential prospects, Cuban concluded, “It’s very possible that he doesn’t have the cash himself and has bragged himself into a position where he can’t afford the cash it takes to run for President!”
Cuban implied at the beginning of his Cyberdust attack that there would be more to follow. He said he has “So much to say that it can’t happen in one blast. But the first place to start is his [Trump’s] net worth.”
