Mexican authorities have released the jail house video of infamous drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera as he is seen preparing his escape.
The video was released Tuesday night by Mexico’s National Security Commissioner Monte Alejandro Rubio during a televised press conference in Mexico City.
“We will show the material in an uninterrupted fashion and then provide a brief explanation of what was seen,” Alejandro Rubido said in Spanish at around the 1:30 marker in the video conference that you can see here.
If you want to see just the escape, you can see it here in a shortened version of the video made by Mexico’s Reporte Indigo.
The video shows Guzman walking inside his cell going to the back of his cell and then back to his bed at least four times before going to the blind spot by the shower, ducking down and then disappearing.
“The behavior of the inmate on the day of the events was normal,” Alejandro Rubido said. “As you can see is that the camera had two blind spots in the cell. The purpose of those spots is to provide the inmate with privacy when using the shower and the toilet.”
