Texas Governor Greg Abbott is taking the Texas success story on the road. Next week, the Governor will visit New York City to meet with business leaders as part of his on-going effort to attract even more business to the Lone Star State.
The goal of the mission is to show industry leaders and other employers that Texas is becoming an even better place to bring their businesses and employees. Abbott’s message is that Texas is the “premier state in which to live and do business.”
“This legislative session, Texas opened more doors for opportunity than ever before and I’m confident that by showcasing our success in cutting the business franchise tax and reducing regulations, we will continue encouraging companies to bring their business to the Lone Star State,” Governor Abbott said in a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas. “Unleashing the power of entrepreneurs and innovators and securing Texan’s freedom to aspire has always been the model of success for Texas, and I look forward to selling that model nationwide.”
Abbott will tout legislation passed during this year’s session of the Texas Legislature that he believes improves the state’s business climate. Those new laws included $4 billion in tax cuts for businesses and home owners, the reduction of burdensome regulations, and increased spending on transportation infrastructure and education.
Last month, Gov. Abbott met with Breitbart Texas and a few other media outlets to discuss the recently concluded 84th Legislative Session. At that time, he said he would be starting trips across the U.S. and around the globe to spread the word about Texas’ successful model for business growth. One of the points he touted was the move to spend over $4 billion to build new roads to help businesses deliver their goods and services to market. The state is also spending more than $4 billion in higher education to help improve the quality of the Texas labor force.
The trip to New York City is a significant beginning of this journey. Abbott will meet with more than 30 business leaders who represent more than 22 corporations. Abbott said this could realize and additional 11,500 jobs for Texas and Texans. He will also meet with corporate real estate advisors to give them information for their clients that could bring even more jobs to Texas.
Abbott will make an appearance at the New York Stock Exchange and conduct a variety of other media appearances.
Texas was recently recognized, once again, as Site Selection Magazine’s Governor’s Cup recipient. This is the third time in a row and the sixth time in the past 11 years Texas has been so honored. Chief Executive Magazine rated Texas as the “best state for business” for the 11th time in a row.
The trip in and events are being conducted in partnership with TexasOne, the state’s Economic Development Corporation.
