A group of Gulf Cartel gunmen murdered a grandmother, her son, and her three grandchildren—one of them only 10-years-old—in the latest chapter of inhuman horror taking place just south of the Texas border.
The murder took place Wednesday night in a rural community known as La Soledad in the border city of Rio Bravo not far from the banks of the Rio Grande.
The victims were identified as 65-year-old Vicenta Garcia Sanchez, her son, 39-year-old Fidel Martinez Garcia, and her three grandchildren: 19-year-old Fidel, 15-year-old Alexis, and 10-year-old Pedro.
According to information provided to Breitbart Texas by the Tamaulipas Government, a group of hitmen went to the area and dragged the family out of house in order to question them as to the whereabouts of two men believed to belong to a rival group.
When the gunmen were not able to get any answers from the family they went ahead and executed them moments before ransacking the house. The cartel hitmen stole a computer, some cellphones, and a few trinkets from the house, and then loaded them into two stolen cars that the gunmen disposed of shortly after.
While Tamaulipas law enforcement officials have not identified the group that the cartel gunmen belong to, the citizen journalist group Rio Bravo Zona De Peligro has identified them as members of a cell under the leadership of a Gulf Cartel commander known as Miguelito “Metro 56.”
As Breitbart Texas previously reported, since February, two factions of the Gulf Cartel called Los Metros and Los Ciclones have gone to war.
The fighting has resulted in large scale gun battles involving automatic weapons, grenades, RPGs, and IEDs, leaving dozens of bodies along the way. The fighting has also left behind a number of gruesome executions where cartel gunmen have dismembered their rivals only to stuff them into ice chests and leave them with a banner warning others about a similar fate.
