CHARLESTON, South Carolina — “Sista Solove” is the woman whose strident comments went viral in two videos shot in front of the Mother Emanuel AME church last week, as she heckled CNN hosts live on the air and called for a race war in conversation with a Breitbart News reporter.

Some have claimed that Solove was merely a “random passerby” whose views weren’t important to the larger story, but an investigation by Breitbart News shows that while Solove may be outspoken, she’s a recognized and respected activist in the modern Black Power movement.

Sista Solove’s real name is Shamira Deneeshia Collins, and according to online records, she appears to have been arrested at least three times in the past in northern Florida. Ms. Collins seems to have been arrested twice in 2004—once in August and once in October—and charged with three separate counts of violating adult entertainment codes, a statute that specifies “exposure of genital pubic area, buttocks, anus, anal cleft.” Ms. Collins was arrested again in 2010 and charged with driving without a license and fraud.

Despite her previous legal problems, Collins would go on to become a political activist. In 2011, Collins signed a petition against police brutality on the Activism.com site. She would also get acclaim as a dynamic speaker by the Virgin Islands youth group.

It was after the Charleston massacre that Collins’ activism brought her national notice. Yahoo News featured her in a photo, holding her “Angry Black Woman” sign outside last Friday’s bond hearing.

After Breitbart News contacted Collins with a formal interview request, she deleted her Facebook page, which had showed her passion for activism in the wake of the Charleston murders.

Collins exhorted others to action:

REVOLUTION AIN’T FOR THE WEAK AT HEART!!!!! DR UMAR WILL BE IN THE BUILDING!!!! I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU GOT TO DO TO GET HERE……GET HERE NOW!!!!!! NO UNCLE TOMS PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!! OR I WILL CALL YO ASS OUT!!!!!! YOU KNOW I’LL DO IT!!!! #‎UNITY #‎ANGRYBLACKWOMAN

Dr. Umar is Dr. Umar Johnson, an advocate of “Pan-Africanism” who spoke Tuesday night in Charleston at the New Black Panther rally. Solove was listed as a speaker, but did not appear. It’s not known whether she will speak at Saturday’s rally.

In another post, Solove says:

Solove also had several recent posts critical of Christianity and mocking the Bible.

Fundraising is an important part of politics, and Solove currently has a GoFundMe page asking for donations.

I’M OUT HERE BY MYSELF WORKING!!!! I WANT TO DO MORE, I HAVE A PLAN OF ACTION!!! I’M GIVING IT ALL I GOT AND MORE!!! I LOVE THIS, I LIVE THIS, I EAT THIS AND I AM THIS!!!!! #‎ANGRYBLACKWOMAN

At press time, Collins had raised about $1,500.

Some people may not like what Sista Solove / Shamira Collins has to say, but her views are simply a blunter, more direct version of what many in the Democrat Party, Obama Administration, and Black Lives Matter movement believe.
