Blood continues to flow in the streets in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon. Suspected cartel gunmen killed at least 22 people over the weekend, in what some government officials describe as disputes between rival cartel members.

As Breitbart Texas previously reported, on Friday cartel gunmen killed 10 employees at a Corona beer bottling plant in Garcia, a suburb just north of the industrial hub of Monterrey. Information provided to Breitbart Texas at the time pointed to a group of gunmen storming the plant, holding the employees at gunpoint, stripping some of them, and shooting them.

According to Mexico’s SDP Noticias, not long after the shooting at the Corona warehouse, four other bodies were found later that day, also in the Monterrey area.

On Sunday, authorities in the suburb of San Pedro just outside of Monterrey found the nude bodies of three men who appeared around 20 years of age. Their killers shot them execution-style, SDP Noticias reported.

The body of as fourth victim was dumped outside of the house of San Pedro’s Public Safety Director Marcia Herrera.

On Saturday, authorities discovered the bodies of three females, one of them a pregnant 15-year-old girl, who had been shot. Authorities also discovered the headless body of a man in a rough Monterrey neighborhood.

“The violence is being caused by the cartels that operate in the northeastern part of the country and it’s believed that in some of the cases they are disputed between there criminal groups,” Nuevo Leon’s Governor Rodrigo Medina was quoted by SDP Noticias.

While not a border area, Monterrey has long been a coveted plaza for drug cartels seeking to use the infrastructure of the industrial and financial hub. In recent years Los Zetas, the Gulf Cartel and the Sinaloa federation have fought over control of the area, resulting in shootouts, executions, and other acts of violence.
