The mayor of the Mexican city of San Fernando survived a brazen attack by drug cartel gunmen who fired upon the convoy that he had been travelling in. The attack took place earlier this week when Mayor Mario De La Garza Garza had been travelling back from the rural community of El Norteño after visiting the areas that had been affected by the recent rains, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the Tamaulipas Government revealed.
De La Garza had been visiting with families affected by the rains. As his the convoy of trucks moved toward San Fernando, a group of gunmen in various vehicles chased after them and began firing. No one was injured by the attack, the information revealed.
The Mexican Army responded to the scene of the attack and began to search the surrounding areas for the gunmen. None were found.
De la Garza is the second Tamaulipas mayor to survive a cartel attack this year, as previously reported by Breitbart Texas, Matamoros Mayor Leticia Salazar survived an ambush by the Gulf Cartel in March.
