REYNOSA, Tamaulipas — Mexican authorities arrested two Gulf Cartel members who were guarding a house the criminal organization was using to store weapons and vehicles. The two gunmen apparently burst into tears as the police photographed them, and the items seized from the house they were protecting.
The ongoing war against organized crime in the area has yielded some positive results, but cartel members continue their regular operations despite heavy law enforcement activity. In addition, firefights remain a regular occurrence in the border region.

During a routine patrol, state law enforcement officials spotted a group of cartel gunmen, who attempted to flee. Two of the gunmen ran into a house in the Longoria neighborhood, where authorities caught up with them and arrested them. The two men were identified as Hector Manuel Ordonez Gonzalez and Carlos Natividad Pedraza. A search of the property turned up a weapons cache, and authorities seized several vehicles the gunmen left behind.
