Border Patrol agents rescued two illegal immigrants who had been stuffed inside a speaker box in an effort to get around an immigration checkpoint.
The rescue took place at the Sarita checkpoint near Kingsville, Texas which is about 80 miles north of the Texas border on U.S. Highway 77 when agents saw a woman driving a white car approach the inspection area, information released to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Border Patrol revealed.
The woman driving the car was in fact a U.S. citizen; however, a police dog alerted the agents to possible contraband. The agents sent the car to a secondary inspection area where they found two illegal aliens who had been stuffed inside a speaker box in the car’s trunk.
The two men appeared sweaty and one of them claimed to be dizzy from being stuffed in the hot car for more than an hour and a half during the smuggling attempt, the information provided by the agency to Breitbart Texas revealed.
Both aliens were offered medical attention but declined. Agents noted that the way the illegal aliens had been stuffed in the box and the position in the car’s trunk would have made it impossible for them to escape from the vehicle in an emergency. The two aliens are expected to face deportations proceedings while the driver of the vehicle is expected to face criminal charges.
The Texas Legislature is currently considering legislation to increase the penalties for people engaging in human smuggling.
