MCALLEN, Texas — A human smuggler arrested while trying to cross 17 illegal aliens into the U.S. illegal aliens told federal agents that he has been deported 49 times.
U.S. Border Patrol agents in the border city of Hidalgo Texas responded to a tripped sensor. They agents saw a group of 17 illegal aliens who appeared to have just swum across the Rio Grande make their way to an abandoned structure. The agents moved to arrest them, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed.
As they approached, 23-year-old Victor Daniel Vasquez Ramirez, who was identified as the leader of the group, began throwing punches at one of the agents. He hit the agent several times before the he was able to place subdue the immigrant and place him in handcuffs.
Once at the Border Patrol station, Vasquez told agents that he had been deported 45 times as a juvenile and four times as an adult. Agents checked their records and confirmed that he had in fact been previously deported four times as an adult.
Vasquez was charged in federal court with one count of human smuggling and one count of illegal re-entry. Court records show that prosecutors have yet to charge him in connection with the assault on the agent.
As Breitbart Texas previously reported in previous assault cases against agents, many times the assault charges get dismissed or the aliens are not charged unless an agent is seriously injured. These cases have been cause for concern with the local chapter of the National Border Patrol Council who has routinely spoken out against the practice. Union officials claim that assaults on state police officers are handled in a stricter manner than assaults on border patrol agents.
