Congressman Randy Weber (R-TX) has re-introduced a bill to hold Central American nations accountable for illegal immigrants from their countries by cutting off foreign aid. The bill (H.R. 439, attached below) is in response to last summer’s invasion of illegal immigrants and unaccompanied minors mostly from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.

“I first introduced the Illegal Entry Accountability Act (IEAA) last June, when our borders were being flooded by illegal immigrants, including thousands of Unaccompanied Alien Children,” Weber said to Breitbart Texas in response to our inquiry. “In July, I traveled down to the border to see it firsthand. Texas truly is on the front line of this border crisis, and I plan to do everything within my Constitutional authority to prevent the President from moving forward with his plan to grant 5 million illegal aliens amnesty.”

“With a new Congress,” Weber continued, “it is time to seize on this opportunity to secure our borders and protect our nation.”

The bill would hold Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador accountable for illegal immigration. The intent is to immediately suspend all U.S. foreign aid until Congress determines these countries have taken sufficient steps to mitigate the massive illegal immigration problem faced by this country last summer.

“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that over 67,000 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) crossed our border last year,” Weber wrote in a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas. “When detained, these children require healthcare and social services paid for by our constituents.”

Weber blamed the Obama Administration for its failure to be prepared for the massive border crossings of last summer. “The Administration was scrambling because they failed to plan for an event like this,” Weber stated. “Countries in South America are using our current laws against us.”

“The President has proven he will not act unless he is acting unilaterally and granting executive amnesty,” he concluded. “That is precisely why I am re-introducing the Illegal Entry Accountability Act of 2015, which will immediately suspend all U.S. foreign aid to Central American nations (Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador) in an effort to hold our southern neighbors accountable.”

The bill will be presented to the House Foreign Affairs Committee for a hearing. Weber was joined by eight original co-sponsors including Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX). Other co-sponsors include: Rep. Renee Ellmers (NC-2), Rep. Mo Brooks (AL-5), Rep. Chabot (OH-1), Rep. Massie (KY-4), Rep. Scott DesJarlais (TN-04), Rep. Tom Rice (SC-7), Rep. Curt Clawson (FL-19).

The original bill, filed last year, had twenty-seven co-sponsors but was never voted on by the Foreign Affairs Committee. The committee is currently headed by Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA).
