MCALLEN, Texas — A man who has been wanted for a Texas murder for 14 years has been arrested near the Texas border with Mexico. Federal agents arrested the man on murder charges.
Details of the arrest in the border city of McAllen have not yet been released. Fred Garcia Gonzalez went before a U.S. Magistrate Judge who ordered his detention without bond pending his transfer to San Antonio. He is facing federal weapons charges for being a three-time convicted felon in possession of ammunition as well as being a suspect in a double homicide, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas show.
The charges against Garcia Gonzalez stem from the September 17, 2000 murder of Alejandro Rangel and Florencio Vazquez. The two were shot multiple times in San Antonio. As part of the investigation, local police got information that “Fred” was believed to be the shooter and tried to look for him.
