Authorities are looking into a fatal wreck caused by illegal alien smugglers, trying to elude capture, that resulted in their death while injuring seven others.

The wreck took place Wednesday morning near the farming town of Ricardo, Texas about 15 miles north of the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Sarita, Texas, according to information released by the Texas Department of Public Safety to Breitbart Texas.

The wreck took place when authorities pulled over a Chevrolet Tahoe that was travelling north on U.S. Highway 77 where the driver initially pulled over but then sped off.

Soon after driving away, the driver lost control, rolled over and ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. At the scene authorities found one person dead and rushed the rest to a local hospital where the second died.

The crash comes just two days after a van with 39 illegal aliens crashed in the border city of Pharr killing the vehicles driver. In that wreck, the driver had also been trying to elude authorities.

“U.S. Border Patrol agents in South Texas responded to two smuggling vehicle rollover incidents in the last two day,” said U.S. Border Patrol Spokesman Omar Zamora in a prepared statement. “In both cases Border Patrol agents attempted to initiate an immigration traffic stop on suspect vehicles. However, the drivers of both vehicles attempted to elude agents at a high rate of speed, placing themselves, the occupants of the vehicles, and other motorists at extreme risk. Both vehicles crashed shortly after the pursuits were terminated resulting in fatalities and injuries to the occupants. The results of both, unfortunately, illustrate the dangers of illegally crossing the border where the risks of injuries, death or falling prey to smugglers are always present. Customs and Border Protection has protocols to ensure we accomplish the mission while ensuring the safety of our officers and agents, as well as the public.”
